On March 2nd, the Newton County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a contract to begin construction on Fire Station No. 4 during the regular meeting.
With more than two-dozen fire facilities in their portfolio, Sunbelt Builders was selected to build the 9,150 square-foot facility located at 1200 Hwy. 213 for $2,652,155. The new fire station will include three apparatus bays, a cascade room, decontamination area, and living space for department personnel.
The addition of the station will provide more public safety coverage and go toward reducing insurance premiums for area residents.
